Corey & Sarah in Rome

Hey everyone,
It is really hard to believe that we are in Rome. We had to keep saying it to each other yesterday to make it sink in!
It is such an amazing place. So much history and a lot of it is still standing!
We arrived on the 23rd and we were very excited about getting a really cool twin cabin which was a bit better than our mozzie riddled tent in Venice! Much better.
On the 24th we all got up at 5:30am or so and caught the bus into the Vatican. People had been lining up since 6am! We got there at 7am and joined the line. By the time the place actually opened the line was well over a kilometre long!
We got in and went straight to the Sistene Chapel which was unbelievable. You are not allowed to take pictures in there but I snuck a couple so I will try and put them up on the site for you. Really amazing place though.
We had a quick look around Vatican City and in St. Peter Square which is where that really super religious catholic guy talks on sunday - cant remember what they call him though. He didnt show though.
We had a walking tour at 11am from Piazza Navono which was really good. We saw famous sites such as The Pantheon, Roman Forum, Colosseum and heaps of other amazing things that I cant remember the names of at the moment.
Later we went back to the Vatican to see the chapel where Peter has his tomb. St. Peter's Basilica. It was another amazing place.
We went out for tea and had some quality Italian Pizza. I (Corey) got to be the interpreter for the evening between Sarah, Tina & Geoff and the waiter. Somehow he got the impression that I could understand and speak Italian. I spoke a little but only the things we learnt out of our Busabout books. It was cool though.
Anyway, Tina & Geoff have now left us. They are going to Sorrento in Southern Italy. They will have such an awesome time. It was great fun backpacking around North and Southern Europe with them for 3 weeks. I don't think we'll get to see them for another 7-8 months or so!
We have one more day in Rome and then we're off again.

Next stop - Florence.

Keep the emails and comments coming! We love hearing from everyone.

Another Update From The Euro Tour

Hey everyone
(For the rest of this blog, if you see a 'Y' where there should be a 'Z' or vice versa, it's because the keys are mixed up! I'm sure you'll be able to get through it ok though.)

So, here we are in Salzburg, the home of The Sound of Music!
We arrived on Sundaz, 17th Sept and after a short trip from Vienna, we were out doing the tourist thing shortlz after we arrived.
Sarah and Tina went straight out for The Sound of Music Tour which was good for those who went. We have photos of them both recreating the scenes from the movie where thez went!
Corey and Geoff walked around the town looking at the sites and people.

So far Tina & Geoff are keeping up with us. Geoff's favourite part of the daz is happy hour back at the hostel and Tina, now that she's done the sound of music tour, can sleep again!

In recent dazs we've spent time in Vienna which was probablz the least favourite place so far simplz because there wasn't much there unless zou're into classical music and architecture.
Sarah was verz impressed with the Palace that was there though. She was pretending to be
Cinderalla on the stairs at the front - we have photos of that too!

Before that we were in Cesky Krumlov and Prague which are both in the Czech Republic. Prague was prettz cool with heaps of old buildings and cobbled stone streets. We had reallz nice weather for our staz there and even managed to get some colour back in our skin from the lovelz sun!
Cesky Krumlov was Corey's favourite place so far as it was a cool spot to just chill out and do nothing. We spent a lot of time sitting around the hostel drinking beer and eating the best chicken ceaser salads I've ever had!
We met a lot of cool people there also. Some of which were 3 British blokes from Manchester who we were introduced to just before we set out on a river rafting trip together. It was a slow 3 and a 1/2 hour paddle down the river where we stopped off for a beer at a couple of pubs along the waz! We even got to go down some hardcore rappids that finished with a huge drop down a thundering waterfall! Keep checking this site for the pics!

Tomorrow we're off to Munich where we meet the hoardes of Oktober-fest partz goers for a night and then heading to Venice the next daz.

We miss zou all so much. Please keep the emails and comments/hello messages coming and we'll trz and get some photos up on the site as soon as we can.

Euro Tour 2006

Hello from Prague, Czech Republic.

Geoff and Tina, Corey and I are all having a great time here in Europe.
We have been to Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin thus far, and are off to Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic tomorrow.

The weather here in Prague (all the places so far) has been brilliant. Prague especially. The clearest blue skies and warm sunshine. We've even got rid of our English tan and got closer to a proper one.

After Cesky we're off to Vienna in Austria and hopefully will get some time soon to add a longer post with some photos as well.

Please keep the emails coming, we love hearing from you all.

(Don't forget you can leave your comments on this site as well!)

All our love,
Corey and Sarah
